The Pump Room Restaurant

Step into Regency elegance at the Pump Room Restaurant with afternoon teas inspired by the life and era of Jane Austen. Served in the Georgian salon where Austen once observed Bath society, the experience blends heritage, storytelling and seasonal British produce. Enjoy loose-leaf teas crafted with Gillards of Bath, including the bespoke “Jane Austen Blend” and the floral English Rose Tea, or fair-trade coffee with complimentary refills. Literary-inspired cocktails include the “Darcy”, with Earl Grey tea, spiced rum and citrus, and the “Elizabeth”, combining elderflower liqueur with English sparkling wine. Savouries include cucumber and cream cheese, poached salmon with caper butter, Somerset cider-roasted gammon with spiced chutney, smoked mackerel rillette and St Ewes egg salad. Scones come with West Country clotted cream and jam, followed by pastries such as raspberry and vanilla Battenberg, chocolate croustillant and seasonal fruit tarts. The Pride & Prejudice Experience (£70) adds aperitifs and starters before an enhanced afternoon tea.

Sittings run from 12–1.30pm, 2–3.30pm or 4–5.30pm, with live music. “Jane Austen Afternoon Tea” from £44.50; children’s teas £14.95 with a full adult tea.
