The Victoria Art Gallery is one of Bath’s most loved cultural attractions and the most popular art gallery in the region with a collection of over 1,500 decorative art treasures and paintings on permanent display.
Since it opened its doors to the public in 1900, the gallery space has become woven into the fabric of day-to-day life in Bath, remaining as consistently popular with locals as with visitors.
The spacious two-storey building houses a huge collection of paintings, sketches, sculpture, artefacts and decorative art treasures dating from the 15th century all the way to the present day.

The gallery’s ground floor space hosts exhibitions that change on a regular basis (generally around every two months) for which an entrance fee is charged, while the permanent collection on the first floor is free to enter. The elegant marble hallway and grand staircase area that links the two floors could be described as a work of art itself. The upper floor collection brings five centuries of European art together across two rooms in a space flooded by natural light. It’s an experience for all ages to enjoy; families with children are encouraged to immerse themselves in art here and the gallery is proud to be a Children’s University learning destination.

Meanwhile, full disable access and free talks for visually impaired visitors take place on select Mondays throughout the year to ensure accessibility to all.
Make sure to visit the ground floor shop to browse a charming selection of books, arty gifts, postcards, greeting cards and collection/exhibition catalogues.
